It’s the future. The digital economy has crashed cataclysmically. Printed books are the only commonly accepted currency. However, as the price of books begins to rise, people start ripping out pages in order to divide the currency into smaller denominations. Finally, they cut out separate passages, then single lines, soon particular words, and in the end, the individual letters. No one values what is written between the lines.
